Meet the Team

Holly Hyatt
Dental Assistant II
Holly has been in dentistry since 1993 and with Dr. Coates since 2009. She continued her assisting education by receiving her certifications in radiography and coronal polishing. She loves seeing the new smile of patients who have never felt comfortable with the appearance of their teeth. She is thrilled to spend her days changing lives, one person and one smile at a time. Working closely with Dr. Coates, Holly assists him while supporting our patients. She makes sure they are comfortable, and at the end, she checks to see that they are happy.
A Craven County native, Holly resides in Ernul with her partner, Lee. Holly has a son, Christopher. Horseback riding and teaching are her passions. For more than 20 years, she has volunteered as a coach with the equine Special Olympics and currently has three athletes that compete. Holly loves all animals, having four horses – Maggie, Jewel, Kennedy, and Fudge – along with two cats, Honey and Diamond. During her spare time, you can find her and Lee doing almost anything outdoors from boating to four-wheeling. Their trusty companion is always Harley, their yellow lab, without whom they never leave home.

Dee Dee Carson
Dental Assistant II
Dee Dee has been in dentistry for 25 years and with Dr. Coates since 2007. She graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College dental assisting program. Dee Dee welcomes all of our new patients and ensures their oral health goals are met throughout the treatment process. She collects all the information for Dr. Coates to complete his new patient exam, which includes taking the x-rays and digital photos. For her, seeing the finished, healthy, and happy smiles means she’s helped make a real and lasting difference in a person’s life. She also works chairside during procedures, and she educates patients about their dental health.
A Carteret County native, Dee Dee lives in New Bern with Joe, her husband and a retired marine. They have two daughters, Katie and Hailey. They love cooking together, attending church, traveling, and gardening.

Alicia Krantz
Front Desk Team Member
Alicia graduated from Columbia Southern University in 2014 with an A.A.S. in Business. She has many years of experience and training in customer service with an attention to detail that is valued in our office. She takes pride in providing each patient with personalized care and welcoming them for their appointment. Her goal is to ease the patient process from check-in to check-out, ensuring many returns.
Alicia has been married for 13 years to Bryan, an active duty marine with MWSS274. Together, they have one daughter, Hailey, who plays softball and the french horn at Tucker Creek. Ollie, a Shiba-Inu mix keeps the family company on their adventures. Alicia loves running, reading, and spending time with family.

Pam Whaley
Front Desk Team Member
Pam joined Stonebridge Dental in 2019, bringing 22 years of dental experience with her. She has participated in multiple continuing education courses, providing her with the resources to assist patients in their dental care. She is also a certified women’s fitness specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Her enthusiasm for patient care is rivaled only by her enthusiasm for fitness.
Pam is originally from Texas, but she moved to eastern North Carolina after meeting her husband of 30 years, George, who is from the area. They call Newport home, and together, they have two boys: Joseph and Benjamin. Joseph graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and Benjamin graduates from West Carteret this year. Pam recently adopted a Maltese puppy named Lucy that keeps her very busy. She loves to cook, and she has authored a cookbook with her fitness expertise in mind. She loves to exercise and teach fitness classes that allow her to help people with their fitness goals. Her free time is spent reading a good book on the beach, going on a nature hike, and spending time with her family.

Linda White
Financial Coordinator
Linda joined Dr. Coates’ team as a dental assistant in 1987. It didn’t take too long to realize that she would be an asset at the front desk. She has a way of welcoming patients and making them feel part of her family. She is the familiar voice and face our patients love to see and talk to. She loves helping patients get the care they need when they need it. Like the rest of our team, she strives to make every visit a positive experience, leaving patients smiling at the end. She handles our accounts receivable and files the insurance for our patients. Her goal is to help patients understand and make the most of their dental insurance.
Originally from Boston, Linda and her husband Jeff, a retired Marine, have been married for more than 30 years, calling Havelock their home. Their son Jeffrey and his wife Amy-Jo live in Fayetteville. Their daughter Amanda lives in Greenville. Linda enjoys reading, golfing, and attending church.

Raelynn Scott
Hygiene Assistant
Raelynn has been in dentistry for almost 24 years. She joined Stonebridge in 1998 as Dr. Coates’ assistant. She received her dental assistant training through the Red Cross and continued her education through UNC with certifications in radiography and coronal polishing. She loves helping people realize that a healthy and beautiful smile is within their reach. She works one-on-one with patients during their hygiene visits, taking X-rays, supporting the hygienists, and focusing on education. It’s important to Raelynn that patients understand their unique oral health needs and how they can keep their mouth healthy between hygiene appointments.
Raelynn’s husband Cameron is a retired marine. Together, they have five children and seven grandchildren with two more on the way. They also have three dogs, Ruby, Ginger, and Pepper. Raelynn is originally from California; the marine corps brought her family to North Carolina, and she loves it here.

Kerrie Pearson
Registered Dental Hygienist
Kerrie has been in dentistry for 34 years. She began her career as a dental assistant before going to dental hygiene school in Florida. She graduated from St. Petersburg College with an A.A.S. She furthered her studies at Loma Linda University with a certification in local anesthetic and nitrous oxide administration. Kerrie joined Stonebridge in 1995, and her commitment to patients is beyond measure. She loves partnering with our patients in their journey to better their oral health. Stressing the connection between a healthy mouth and overall wellness, Kerrie educates patients on why it’s important to keep their mouth in great shape. She provides hygiene care for the healthy mouth, as well as the patient that requires periodontal therapy, takes X-rays, and encourages patients to adopt healthy habits.
Originally from Detroit, Kerrie has called North Carolina her home for more than 25 years. She resides in Cape Carteret with her fiance’ Bobby. Her two beautiful daughters, Abigail and Anna, attend college. Abigail is a Tarheel and Anna a Red Wolf. Most of her family’s free time is spent at the beach or boating on the crystal coast.

Carol Ackner
Registered Dental Hygienist
Carol has been a hygienist for 30 years and joined Stonebridge Dental in 2017. She received her degree from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY in 1988. Following graduation, she began working with a periodontist, where she would continue her career growth until her move to eastern North Carolina. She enjoys partnering with the patients to help them achieve health while building relationships, and she appreciates our patients’ success. Her goal is to maintain patient comfort while providing thorough hygiene care.
Carol and her husband of 25 years, Chad, were born and raised in upstate New York. Chad is in the energy equipment distribution business. They have two sons, Tyler and Gavin. They also own two dogs, Felix and Emma, and an old kitty named Sam. They moved to eastern North Carolina three years ago to enjoy some different scenery and warm weather. They love it here and can’t imagine living anywhere else. They enjoy exploring the local treasures, whether that means boating or hiking in their free time.

Dawn Whitlow
Practice Administrator and Registered Dental Hygienist
Dawn has been in dentistry since 1986 and graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College in 1991 as a registered dental hygienist. She loves working with our patients to inspire them to take control of their dental health and smile. She focuses on educating them about their specific oral health needs and how they can keep their mouth and smile healthy and beautiful. She consults with the patients regarding their goals and treatment needs. While Dawn likes providing patient care, her primary focus is our office, team management, and human resources – including team training. She also oversees accounts payable, marketing, and supply management.
Dawn and her husband of 30 years, C.D., have three boys: Cameron, Carter, and Lathan. She’s a Carteret County native and will soon have two college graduates and one high school graduate. Dawn also enjoys cooking and decorating.
